May 21, 2009; Indian Harbor Beach, FL - Space Coast SCORE Chapter 400 Selects Two Business’s of the Year for 2009 The Space Coast Chapter of SCORE (“Counselors to America’s Small Business”) presented Business of the Year awards to two Brevard County businesses at a luncheon held on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Eau Gallie Yacht Club. While normally only one award is presented each year, this year the recognition was shared by two businesses, Brevard County Woman Newspaper, owned by Toni Allen, and Joy’s International Foods, owned by Jean Najjar.
Brevard County Woman Newspaper
Toni Allen launched “Brevard County Woman Newspaper”, a community-based publication for women, in November of 2006. Working on its third year, Brevard County Woman has a steady and loyal readership of over 35,000 women. The niche newspaper, easily recognizable by its pink-bordered cover, provides interesting and educational information, addressing issues and events pertaining to women today. Joy’s International Foods
Named after his daughter Joy, former Aerospace Engineer Jean Najjar created Joy's International Foods using a family recipe from his grandfather. Jean brought the taste of the Mediterranean to America's table. After the secret mix of garlic and spices grew in popularity with his friends and family, he took the plunge and began distributing Garlic Joy Spreads at local gourmet markets in Melbourne, FL. The versatility and unique flavor of the products have created a loyal following, and after a increase in demand, Jean expanded his distribution into Publix Super Markets and Whole Foods Markets across the Southeast.
